Not as great as it sounds .. they chuck in a roundabout every 300 yards so, especially in a suped up supra, the second I hit 70 I am having to start braking..

The 60mph roads are the ones surrounding each separate estate and they all have at least one, usually two, turnings on each side to get in and out of the estates.. so when you're happily cruising along them at 60 in a bright orange supra, some moron always decides they are going to pull out of one of these in front of you and do 30. The really fun ones decide to pull out of these to turn right and then realise there is a car coming the other way so they stop in the middle of the road and make you have to stop !
You have to love it here lol

That actually sounds like a lot of fun! Come off a roundabout, hard on the power up to 70, then brake hard for the next roundabout, hit the apex and then back on the power into the next straight! (I'm sure I'm glamorising though!)

It's so weird how roads are set up differently in different parts of the country - in London if there were 30mph roads joining the main road, the main road would have a 40mph limit if there's no slip road, and a 50mph limit if there were slip roads (and sometimes it would still be 40mph)

The people who make decisions in relation to roads (regardless of who's in power) are morons

Driving here is so very different to my old town, where if you so much as looked at the wrong lane never mind veered towards it you would find a baseball bat attached to your ear!

As well as those who can't use feeder lanes you have some who imagine feeder lanes at roundabouts and just pull out in front of you from their exit because there is dual carriageway and they choose to ignore their give way markings and assume you will take the outside lane so they can pull out. I really love those special ones too Smile

I think actually what you're doing there is describing not going round roundabouts in lanes as Sam complained about earlier Wink

Lol.. I only object to people straightlining roundabouts ... when there's no-one in the other lane, especially when the car in the other lane is a bright orange huge Supra with the stereo blaring and no-one within a four mile radius can say they 'didn't know I was there' !

I have straightlined a few (ok a lot) roundabouts myself .. in a supra thats a very good idea, where possible lol .. but I do look for bikes, cars, lorries and anything alien that might scratch my car if I plough it into the verge first

Yep straight-lining roundabouts is one of my annoyances too, isn't an issue if no one's there but look to see if there is!

To be fair though I'm not sure the type we're complaining about straight-lining roundabouts are probably not really approaching them the same way we would in terms of carrying max speed through

lol I'm definitely not.. I mean the type who also drive on dual carriageway with their drivers side wheels on the lines between the lanes cos they have absolutely no idea that there is four feet of tarmac between their passenger door and the verge !

I am almost tempted to take a driving lesson in town because you see so many obviously newly passed people with no concept of lanes at our roundabouts that I really do wonder what they are taught .. although I am certain it's more likely that they have passed their test and then copy the examples set to them by their older relatives

No if you learn to drive in London for example (like where I did) you really have no clue about dual carriageways - also a reason why many don't know how to use their side mirrors either when changing lanes, etc.

It's five or six lanes of traffic with a lot of exits .. so it's complicated. It's all lane marked and traffic lighted now but it's still quite daunting. Back when I took my test, there were no markings and no lights, it really was a by the seat of your pants, take your life in your hands, deep breath, close your eyes and pray kinda task. Back then I was totally fearless about cars and driving, nothing scared me, I had my cars planned and none of them were below a three litre, I had my super saloon racing plans made. I have never forgotten my first ever moment of driving sheer terror when I stopped at the Give Way sign on this roundabout and realised I had to somehow drive out and get my car across five lanes of maniacs to go all the way round this thing. I did it and managed not to make anyone swerve, brake or die and it became the one and only time I thought 'I don't like this and I wanna go home'

The Magic Mushrooms Roundabout at Swindon was a doddle after that experience lol

Lol I don't know that one but it sounds a lot like what the A10 roundabout in Edmonton used to be like a few years ago before they rearranged it as three (now very large) lanes and installed traffic lights.

Remember my instructor taking me there in my third driving lesson and I was like are you sure you want to go there? Waited for a gap and just floored it
