Ok I've got an absolute cracker that happened on my way home last night, bear with me as this might be a bit longer than usual but it's worth it!

To set the scene, this is the junction in question - it's the exit of the northbound Blackwall Tunnel, straight on is the A12 and the slip road to the left (where the bus stop is) is the exit for the A13 westbound which is where I was going.

Most traffic normally goes straight on, and slows due to the traffic light up ahead (which you can just about see). Due to this I usually pull into that slip road as early as possible to pass the cars slowing down for the lights. Obviously sometimes I do just put my foot down, but luckily yesterday I was feeling pretty chilled so just carried on at the same speed (which was quicker than the traffic, but not by a lot)

So basically I pulled in to about where that green matiz is indicating and moving over, and I had got a bit further up the road so sort of just behind where that flatbed truck is. As I did I was just passing a black Eos, who was in the lane to the right of me in about the position that truck is in the pic.

As I was cruising I had only overlapped maybe my bonnet with his rear wheel so I wasn't too far in - I'm sure you've probably guessed what happened next but he suddenly decided he wanted to get off to. He did indicate but moved left at exactly the same time so it wasn't really relevant, but the indicator did help in terms of me being able to brake in time - he literally missed the front of my car by inches, it really was ridiculously close

Suitably irritated I horned and we followed the slip road round to the set of lights that follow. As we pulled up at the lights, as I was still reasonably chilled, just looked across to see who it was, gave him a disapproving shake of the head and then went back to waiting for the lights to change. I was expecting at least a hand up in apology, nothing came but wasn't too bothered.

Then things got a little weird. I noticed him moving around in the corner of my eye so looked back to see him looking all around the car. Then he pulled forward a bit as though he was looking at the front of the car, and then came back again and wound his window down.

At this point I was a little curious so wound my window down too, dialogue was pretty much word for word as follows (by the way WIE stands for "w****r in Eos"

WIE: Is this a BMW?

Me: (a bit more confused than before but willing to play along) No, it's a Lexus.

WIE: Ahh, so need to add those to the list too.

Me: (now realising what he meant) What list is that then?

WIE: I thought it was just BMW drivers who drove like that?

Me: What do you mean? BMW drivers drive properly? (:tongue_smilieSmile

WIE: Nah always trying to race round everyone.

Me: (my irritation level slightly rising) Have you seen you have these shiny things fitted to the sides of your doors?

WIE: Yep

Me: I see you drive an Eos so you probably use them to make sure your hair looks ok (the guy had a shaved head :tongue_smilieSmile but do you know what else they are supposed to be used for?

WIE: Yep

Me: Then USE IT!

Then with the sort of perfect timing that rarely comes to play, at that instant the lights changed and I drove off.

Obviously I'm sure this will have no impact on him whatsoever (except to now tell his friends that Lexus drivers are t*****s :laughSmile but it still amazes me that he actually thought he was right and there was nothing wrong with the way he executed his manoeuvre. It's frightening in some senses........not just in driving terms but how thick some people really are.

Sorry for the ramble, but hope it provides some amusement on a Friday afternoon

Marsdendean I'm waiting for someone to do this to my left side of the car but never happens!!!!

It is scary how many people are bad drivers out there and the amount of "possible" accidents we see every morning is quite alarming!

Left side's easy in MK - just go round a roundabout on the inside of a van or a chelsea tractor Wink

Been a while since I've updated this, partly because people have generally been good and partly because I haven't been using the A406 as much lately.

Anyhoo, this morning got stuck in a jam for about a mile - crawled along for around 20 mins and you'll never believe what was causing it............

Actually have a guess, this one's so bizarre and confusing (and probably an anti-climax when I tell you) but I'm bored so this works for me
