purplewitch The witchanics reply would be:

Flip the cute lil car onto it's side using a spatula, dunk it in a pan of water and when it stops bubbling there's probably no air in it. Remove from cauldron and strain using colander (preferably matching the colour to car for extra coolness) then drive around until dry Smile

But life is much easier with a broomstick

Nah - it'd be:
Find a cute mechanic who knows what he's doing, flutter eyelashes and wave purse, leave to simmer for a couple of weeks and voila! All done...

Surely...

Just came back from a test drive/thrash.
It overheated again, blowing all the coolant out through the expansion tank!!!
I noticed that the rad. bleed tap was leaking just slightly don't know if this would create an airlock?
When i'm bleeding the rad for airlocks, I open the tap to fill the clear tubes and coolant pours out the sides, but it doesn't on the heater matrix tap? Is this the norm. or is my rad./tap buggered?
Maybe mental witch can cast a spell to sort it?

lol mental witch.

Your thermostat may be up the creek. It is only a couple of nuts (8 or 10mm)but a real PITA to get to, its under the exhaust manifold on the drivers side. May be worth whipping it out and testing it once the 'zorst is cool.

The thermostat's brand new, do new ones sometimes not work?
Is it best to test a new thermostat before installing it?
This is the first one i've ever done!!

Blueprint ones are known to be "sticky". However if its new i wouldn't worry that much, unless everything else draws a blank.

You can test a thermostat by boiling it in a pan, it should open about 83-85 degrees. You'll see it open. As pointed out, if it's new it's probably OK.

When you attach the bleed tubes to the taps and open them up, they should do this:

i.e. the coolant in them should both rise to the same height (which is the same height as the radiator cap in the engine bay). If they don't something is wrong! If they are too high or too low you still have air somewhere and should keep repeating the rad cap on 1 click, warm it up for ten minutes, put more in stages of the procedure.

Also if any of your taps are leaking when closed then they are knackered. If your bleed pipes just don't fit quite right so they let a little coolant out when attached then just cable tie around them for the short time that you are bleeding the system.

The tap leaks out of its side when i undo it 3 full turns. The bleed pipes are tight and don't let any coolant out it just leaks from around the tap thread.
Can you please tell me if the top and bottom rad. taps are interchangeable? If they're identical; when swapped, both leak at the top and not at the bottom of the rad!
Do you think this might be the root of my problems? If so do you think I need a new rad?
