Marsdendean Same it never worked, could have been a belting car !!!It did work, and was a cracking drive, but because toyotagt built it it was unreliable, ask any mr2 specialist if a head gasket fails on the rev3 and they will tell you that's almost unheard of unless its been built badly, the block tends to crack first.

In theory it worked. In practice it didn't due to incompitence toyotagt and spc iirc.
Main reason tho for headgasket failure was the removal of oe thermostat and replacing it with the inline stat from a landcruiser.
Reason for removal of oe stat was afaik when the pipe on the housing was cut and rewelded it warped the housing so it wouldn't seal under pressure.
When I had the head skimmed I also had the thermostat housing skimmed. Water problem solved however it must of caused other issued.
Had the original 'engineers' done this then we probably wouldn't be looking at this thread.
yea thats about it.
Oh dear lol
Just read the feedback from this

Doesn't seem happy about it
lol, such a shame because it was so good when Phil had it, it was a ****** beast!
And that is so so so cheap!
It was serviced 3 times when I had it.
Oli in the words of 'the real hustle' if something seems too good to be true then it probably is.
But it wasn't too good to be true really, headgaskets blow, and yours was an unlucky one.
Tbh had it not of over heated then it may still be running ok.
But it obviously had other issues that are now coming to light or maybe when it overheated it caused other problems which are now coming to light. ???
Oh dear!!
