simple put they have no regs and laws agaisnt it and couldnt prove it if they tried.

they have no pwoer to look under your bonnet at the roadside so have to send you for an evaluation in which time you have changed back to to standard headlamps??

should be catching moideres

lol! If anything's clear from that thread it's that there is a law against it! They've also correctly identified that cars are getting SVA'd and MOT'd that shouldn't be.

If traffic police were catching murderes they wouldn't be doing their jobs.

Some of the comments are fair, but it does sound like the majority of them are t***s - the only guy who comes off as reasonable and intelligent is the one called blueb.......hopefully never have to deal with any of the others!

The main problem isn't HID, its those that fit HIDs and then don't get their headlights aligned. And if a car passed it's MOT with those lights, I can't see this holding up in court.

In my opinion I don't even get the fuss about fog lights, I don't use mine but have never been bothered by anyone using them as they don't point upwards, a bigger problem is 4x4s with xenons straight through the rear screen!

sorry my post was a bit dis-jointed,

there are regs and laws but actually enforcing them is the issue, as officers dont have the powers to check under bonnets and dont have the equipment to check beam pattern etc then you are sent for an evaluation, giving you time to rectify it.

Actually if it passed its MOT with those lights in (not that you could prove that it did) the MOT station would get their licence removed. And that's not the case that it's only an alignment problem, we all know that if you fill your boot up with paving slaps / swedish flatpack furniture it raises the line of your lights - correctly fitted HIDs will deal with this by self levelling. Aftermarket ones won't. And let's not get into the whole HIDs in reflector housings argument!

You wanna try driving a low car  Most peoples headlights are at my head height!
