I know its hardly the same situation, but when I had a legana rep bumper painted for my IS, I sent the guy my sports grille. The colour match was spot on, and thats on paint thats 8yrs old.
Yeah no doubt. But a colour match to something taken off the car would be better than just going by paint code tho wouldn't it?

i put on a side skirt from a compeltely different IS and colour match was great,
Sam will spray it for me and will see my car first hand so i trust it wont be end of the world
