on mine, the red H/Brake light will show if either of the following,
Handbrake on,
Low brake fluid level,
Blown brake light bulb, includes the centre brake light, be aware that this brake light looks like it is a normal 501 5watt bulb and it will fit and work, but the correct bulb is 18watt, if the wrong wattage is fitted ie a 5watt-it will work but still illuminate the red warning symbol in dash

The orange bulb warning light will show if either rear tail lights have blown

I found this out when I fitted my rear spoiler (with LED brake light). I wanted to disable the high level brake light on the parcel shelf cause I thought it looks silly with 2 high level/center brake lights but if I disconnected the wire or removed the bulb the handbrake warning light would come. I ended up just tucking the bulb under the parcel shelf so it dosen't show.

Mind you if that bulb ever goes I gunna be scratching my head when the warning light comes on Huh

is300_dino is it different on the 200's then as on the 300 we have a light of it own for faulty brake lights

Marsdendean We have one on the is200 dean so don't know why that's happened ?

could that one be for tail lights rather than brake lights??

Thread Resurrection Smile

I noticed the other day no (!) symbol when i put my handbrake on, took my dash out expecting it to be a bulb only to find no bulb holder in the speedo at all. I popped the one from the replace bulb warning into the (!) one whilst i wait for some bulb holders to turn up only to find the light is coming on a couple of mins into a journey and staying on.

Now its not fluid and my pads have all been done recently, Is the only other thing going to be the 3rd brake light in the centre? Mine has a spoiler with LED brake light fitted so i checked the normal 3rd brake and found no bulb fitted at all.

So whoever has wired the spoiler LED brake light in before i bought the car just taken this bulb out i assume? God know how its taken me nearly 2 years to notice.

Is there any other reason for this light to come on at all?

Phil01 Dean the red light is not just a handbrake light it is also a lamp failure warning and a low brake fluid level warning

If this symbol covers both problems why is there a brake light failure warning bulb in amber also on the dash? Seems strange Lexus would wire it to bring this on as well.
