Gord Do your own for 1/2 the price

i asked my local powerflow dealer if he could do it, but he sounded unsure as to whether or not it was something he could do. but he said bring it in and he will have a look.

do you know of anyone on here who has got their standard manifold decatted?

Mines got the standard manifold fitted that's had the cats removed, not that hard to do mate, need to remove the outer heat shields, cut a door in the manifolds (both sides) and knock out the cats, give them a good blow out and fold the doors closed again, and re-weld them, then replace the heat shields :thumbup1: if the powerflow dealer can't do it, he's in the wrong businesses

good stuff, ill suggest that when i see him.

also, do the heat shields need to go back on after? I thought they were only there to keep the cats hot?

Not sure to be honest mate, no harm leaving them on though i'd have thought? mine still has them fitted, they just need to have the clips bent back on them to remove them so you could leave them off if you wanted to?

I'll see what he says, if he charges me less to leave them off then so be it. Plus it will save weight...:whistling: Cheers for the help.

The covers are only a tin like metal mate, and they come off very easy, just have to slide a flat blade screwdriver under the edge of the tabs down one side of them and bend them back, and they should come apart :thumbup1:

You can just cut the cats out and weld a straight pipe in as a replacement, that could be easier and cheaper?

I'll suggest both methods and see what he thinks. If I get them cut out, would they be worth anything as scrap? Seeing as they are full of precious metals?
