I hit a pot hole last week and one of my nice new TTE rims is now a bit bent Confusedad: Are the Grand Prix alloys soft like the Aero's or was it just my luck? Only had the alloys on the car a month and this happens. The wheel is loosing pressure so I assume the bent bit is causing it to not get a tight seal with the tyre now. I've had a good look at the wheel and its only the outside edge thats a bit bent so I hope its repairable.

Can anyone help me please. Anyone know of any decent alloy wheel refurb places in manchester?

Gord: You've got a set of Grand Prix wheels building up havent you? If I were to want to buy one off you then how much would you want mate?

How would I know if I've got a crack in the alloy mate? I'll post up pics of the wheel but I will probably be claiming the cost of the repairs from the council. Is there any other decent places that will be able to fix it? Can cracks be repaired also?

Should be repairable as long as the wheel hasn't warped - there was a thread on the WIM forums recently of a wheel that really looked well beyond repair and they sorted it!

Just out of curiosity when where the alloys fitted?

I put the wheels on at the start of march. I made sure that were fitted properly and that all nuts were tightened properly.

Cheers mate. I'll give them a ring but first I need to try and find out where the wheel is loosing pressure from. Hopefully its the tyre itself as its got some cracking on the edges.

reganlives I put the wheels on at the start of march. I made sure that were fitted properly and that all nuts were tightened properly.

It wasn't for that, I've wondered whether after a while wheels and tyres form some bond and harden over time.

I hit a pothole day after I had them fitted and it buckled two alloys. Since then I've hit far bigger holes and no damage at all so far (touch wood) so I'm confused as to how that's possible........

Ahh right, well the tyres were on the wheels when I bought them as they're slightly used but not really sure as to how I managed to damage it as it wasnt really a bit pothole that I hit. Just rang up the company that Gord mentioned and they've asked me to bring the wheel in and they'll then be able to give me a quote.

Oh that throws that theory out then - and now that I've tempted fate I'm probably going to damage my alloys soon Blush

Hope it's repairable, if it's only a slight kink it should be fine. Btw, is it on an actual spoke or between spokes?

If it's in between it should be ok - it's when an actual spoke is bent that it gets more complicated.
