Saw this on the news this morning and was a little confused, can you not already get a fine for dangerous driving?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13356057

It's stupid though, why get a ticket for undertaking but not for hogging a particular lane creating the opportunity for undertaking? If I ever got done for that I'd be taking it straight to court Smile

Does she feel like policing some London roads? :whistling:

Seriously though it is starting to get ridiculous down here if you look at traffic weighting, if you take a 3 lane road there will be twice as much traffic in the middle lane as there is in the left, and the right lane will have twice as much as the middle - just completely upside down.......

but then whos the ones that are bad driving the one whos now stuck in the middle as they have traffic speeding past on the left of them after he got trapped there and could of quite easily pulled to the left if the 4 cars behind the original car that undertook him hadnt of followed or overtook him on the right? its a very difficult one as every situation is slightly different?

Depends I suppose, but if the car being undertaken had been given plenty of time to change lanes and they didn't, then that car's at fault. It's very rare that you see someone get "trapped", and if they do indicate I would always stop and let them pull over and then pass them via the right.

I would never just dive down the left and not even provide the opportunity for them to change lanes - obviously there are nutters out there who just weave through traffic but they are a minority.

In principal I agree with the concept, it's used all over the world effectively .. but I have to agree with Stav, for the UK, I can only see this becoming a money spinning replacement for the camera system and a huge powertrip for the ego tripping copper.

That's a good point actually, it's suddenly at the policeman's discretion as to what constitutes dangerous driving whereas previously they would need to be more careful if it is referred to court.

Exactly so modified car drivers can just be victimized by a copper who decides they want to.
