Carbon fiber Wrapping parts of the Stagea
Carbon fiber Wrapping parts of the Stagea
ok so i ahte the wood trim found inside my car see the pic below
so was thinking i will give carbon wrapping a go i know you need to use a Heatgun to soften the glue up and to make it more plyable any tips.....
i also thought i might do the same with the wing mirrors as they have some cracks etc that need repairing, with the car being a pearl white i didn tthink the odd carbon wrapped parts would look to out of place around the car what are your opinions ?
what other parts should i possibly consider wrapping if it looks good enough....
I happy to help you, i found as long as you take your time it is easy enough to do
You may want to try different carbon as some is thicker than others.
Might be worth asking for samples or just order a small piece to see if you think it strong and long lasting enough
Okay, here you go:
Heel plates- Kawasaki Ninja:
Take 2 heel plates- clean and dry.
Cut a piece around twice the size- if you cut to tight you cant get it around curved and edges well enough and will 'crinkle'...
Place item to be wrapped in the centre:
Place the item on top of something so its slightly raised. Now use your hair dryer or hot air gun (on a low setting-if it gets too hot it will loose shape (and more importantly, texture).
When its warm, pull it tightly round the edges.
From the front:
Cut the holes out:
Trim the reverse:
So it looks like this:
Et voila!:
I also did the fairings of that bike also:
where are you based as I recon you could get that 'wood' covered in about an hour?
J
The fairing looks great!
