If I am correct in thinking, would the convertor change a standard 18-70mm
into a 8-33ishmm wide angle.

I've never tried one of these but I think you'll get a fair amount of distortion - not sure if you've looked closely but if you look at photos using your current lens at the widest setting there will be some distortion.
At that price though might be worth a punt just to see how bad (or good) it is?

Ahh ok no probs, yep as far as my understanding goes that's what the converter will do.

Absolutely, at that price it won't matter if it turns out to be rubbish, well worth a try and interested to see the results.

ad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. ad:I'm about to buy a camera, and for an extra £300 I can have a Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle Lens thrown in. I know it would be nice, but I don't think I can justify the cost at the moment (or even lay my hands on the cash!) especially for my first "proper" camera.
