Citroen said there had been no reports of the problem before the Watchdog programme!!!!!!

Yea right, why do companies always say the same old rubbish, why can't they just put their hands up and invest time and money to rectify the problem instead of saying the same old b0ll0cks,

...and it's sister company, Peugeot, has the same design but has fitted a steel plate over the cable in the passenger footwell to stop inadvertent braking by the passenger, whereas in the Citroen it's covered by a piece of felt. Presuming they do actually talk to each other, I wonder which member(s) of Citroen management made the decision to save a fraction of a Euro by not following Peugeot? Hope he/they are now looking for other employment, but hopefully not in the aircraft industry.

IS 200 Sport with a few mods, Standardish IS-F. The IS250 SE-L with a few mods has gone to a new home.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah its ****** annoying but unfortunately its the way the world is going Sad

It seems that as soon as a company grows big enough to have its own legal department all good ethics go out the window. Never say sorry (unless the government forces you to), never admit there's a problem (unless forced by court order), never believe the customer....etc

In the true spirit of conspiracy theorism.... are French import/exports somehow hurting the Americans, and will they blow this out of all proportion as they have with Toyota recalls in the past couple of years? Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

That's opening themselves up for a world of hurt if it's an issue that was obviously discovered...........but hang on, they have a wire in the passenger footwell that if you step on it activates the brakes?

That's so comical it's actually hard to believe!

Not a wire as such. My understanding is that because the car is built LHD, the brake servo and master cylinder are on (what in this country would be) the passenger side, instead of just at the top of the brake pedal where they would normally be. So instead the brake pedal operates a cable on the RHS which is then attached to the master cylinder on the LHS. So you can apply pressure to this cable with your foot from the passenger footwell.

Can you imagine with that set up how vague the brake pedal feel would be, what with remote cables and such, bad enough with rods across the bulk head.
