Hi All,

I am starting this thread in the hopes of finding out the cure for my IS250 which has been highlighted in my introduction thread. Most of you have suggested the tyres, so what I would like to know from current or ex IS25O users if they have or had used tyres that are not Dunlops and had no issues with them. I am currently using Dunlop sport maxx on the front and Dunlop SP01 at the rear.Any help or suggestions are most welcome. thank you

i cant offer any advice maybe tango or carpdiem could comment on this, have you contacted our trader WIM TOny of his staff could possibly offer advice on tyres

I was told by Lexus to stick with Dunlops and I have in order to cure the issues I am having. I have the sport maxx on the front and SP01 at the rear not sure if that could be the reason, so thats why I am trying to find out if anyone here using other than the Dunlops and are having no problems with it. Correct me if I am wrong but I think Tango had Bridgestones when he had his IS250.

My IS250 SE-L was delivered from the factory on Bridgestone Potenzas, but I did not like them as they were quite noisy. Within a year I put the 19" Rays VR rims on with wider Toyo's, and that's what the car has run on since. The car holds the road as well or better than my IS-F, and although it was lowered with stiffer springs the geometry was still set within Lexus specs by virtue of camber adjusters.

IS 200 Sport with a few mods, Standardish IS-F. The IS250 SE-L with a few mods has gone to a new home.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

So basically the gyres whatever you have does not affect much on the driving ie what I am experiencing at the moment. Do you reckon that what you have done to yours is the only way forward for me

From our previous discussions my best guess at the problem you describe was that you hadn't had the steering rack recall, or your car had sustained damage that had put your geometry out of the Lexus acceptable tolerances. Since then you have confirmed you have had a new steering rack, and your track rod end on one side has been replaced due to it being bent. You also stated that Lexus gave you inaccurate geometry reports, but WIM have since checked your geometry and confirmed they are within specification.
In theory your car should be driving as well as any other IS250 with a standard set-up, but you say it does not.
That leaves only aerodynamics, but as you haven't fitted any kind of extreme bodykit, that's got to be ruled out.
I guess I have to ask the obvious, and that is what tyre pressures are you running with?

Tyre pressure at the front was 35 psi and the rear was 38psi but Tony did say he was going to reduce it by a pound or 2.

I am more confused myself but I am hoping Dave is coming down to have a look at the car and hopefully will find a solution. I read somewhere you had issues with tram lining how did you solve that?
