Do please excuse me if I state the obvious.

Most fully comprehensive insurance cover, covers the policy holder and named drivers to drive their cars in the EU which obviously includes Germany. However, if you check your policy closely, this cover is not included for the Nurburgring or North Loop as the Germans seem to like calling it.

So, I'm just wondering where the best place would be to buy insurance as I have no experience in buying this kind of insurance before.

Many thanks in advance.

Track day insurance is expensive (starting at the higher of £250/day or 1.5% of the value of your car), and apply high excesses and low maximum payouts (for example, an excess of £5,000 and a maximum payout of £20,000). The price for insurance usually decreases for two or more days, on the basis that if you didn't crash the first day, you're less likely to crash on subsequent days. The top five UK companies in this field on Google are:

MIS
REIS
Everitt Boles
Competition Car Insurance
OAMPS

Dont forget your not only need to cover your car but if you have a accident then the track will be closed and the ring will bill you for the lost time the damage to any part of the track and also the recovery truck.

Touchwood but I've never taken any additional cover out. I've just made sure my car is in perfect condition i.e brakes, fluids, tyres and just taken care going round. After all you want to be driving home in one piece.

Marsdendean I can see why people risk it really, but if you drive like that video of the guy in the BMW, i would pay whatever it cost lol !

To be fair, the OJC Ring trips are more about the experience of going round the ring and enjoying the environment then actually driving that fast round the ring - the risks if you get it wrong are too great.

Many people get obsessed with lap times etc but just go out there and enjoy it, keep out the way of the really fast stuff and get the car home in one peice.

I have never timed myself going round the ring, but Raj did accidently time us last year when he was showing me some of the lines to take in his M5 while I followed him in the Evo.

Don't be a wuss!! :p

Just move over to the right when you see any really fast stuff coming and use your mirrors and you should be fine. Would be a shame to drive all that way and then not actually do the ring! Wink

I was scared the first time I went on the Ring, but once you get over it, its fine- just don't get over confident.

Mirrors are located behind the sinvisors under the flap and are mostly used to make sure your makeup is flawless obviously.
