The longest one at B&Q extends to 8.24m, will that be sufficient?

I need to get a ladder to get on the roof, how long a ladder do I need (roughly how high is an average house)? Only need it to get maybe a little above the eaves, not right to the top of the roof or anything.
The longest one at B&Q extends to 8.24m, will that be sufficient?

Awesome thanks - what's the quality like, is it sturdy with no wobbles?
Also just noticed one at Wickes that's a bit cheaper and a bit longer at 9.17m - reviews suggest it's good too, is there much difference between the different DIY stores or will they all be decent quality?

Obviously I don't want it to fall off the wall and on to the car - how heavy duty do I need to go with the fixings? Can I just use large rawlplugs or do I need to use bolts and the metal anchor thingys in the wall like they use when hanging TVs?

So the ladder's arrived, and bought some brackets to put it up on the wall in the garage.
Obviously I don't want it to fall off the wall and on to the car - how heavy duty do I need to go with the fixings? Can I just use large rawlplugs or do I need to use bolts and the metal anchor thingys in the wall like they use when hanging TVs?

Marsdendean I would just use some 7mm brown plugs and 2.5" screws. Not unless they weigh in excess of 50KG!!
Seeing as I picked the ladder up myself without too much effort required it definitely doesn't weigh 50kg! :laugh:
