SO today I attempted to fit the intercooler and piping to the car. I thought it would be quite simple...cut a couple of holes...bolt a few things on. MAN WAS I SOOOO WRONG.

Front bumper comes off. Not too difficult.

Crash bar comes off (coz intercooler is so large). Not too difficult.

'Bar' going from the hood latch to the floor comes off. Not too bad.

Then I hit problems.

There's this 'pipe' running down the right of the radiator. Its got a plug on it which has to a harness that seems to be part of the horns. Cant hurt to try and move it out the way can it? So I unbolt it, pull on it and... PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHTTTTTTTT. A large quantity of refrigerant gas blasts out in my face from the air conditioning. Sh*t my pants and plug it back up super quick. Lesson learned.

Next up there is a U shaped bar that runs across the left of the radiator near the bottom. Text Phil01 - he says its for power steering. So after getting a few more facts, I drain that off, attach some longer tubes and give myself some freedom to mount it elsewhere.

Then I see that the headlight sprayers will foul the intercooler piping, so off they come!

Then its on to the washer bottle which is also in the way of the intercooler piping. But by this time I've lost all sanity, reasoning and what little intelligence I have. For some reason i think that the bottle is just for the headlamp washers. So I proceed to go apes*it on it when it refused to come out nicely and end up breaking a few tabs on it.

Finally its looking like everything may fit in so I go and try to put the bumper back on. EH ERRRRR!!!!!!!!!! No go, the intercooler pipes foul the bottom mesh part of the bumper.

So I get the dremel out and cut the meshed area down to about half its original thickness. Still no good. Trim a bit more. Still no good. Now I'm wondering if I really need to cut horrible holes in my beautiful and recently sprayed bumper?

-----------------------

But anyway. to cut a long story short. I need fnarking help. I've dug myself into a hole. My beautiful car is in bits. I cant get the bumper back on to drive it anywhere. I'm useless at cutting/doing stuff neatly so there's no way I can attempt the mods to the bumper.

Help *cries*

I wish I could help. I know toyotagt had a lot of issues putting my bumper back on after putting a huge intercooler in. They removed a lot of it.

From what I can tell it's probably a couple of 4" squares at either end of the lower mesh. Problem is I just had the bumper respeayed and they did the mesh too. So it's going to make keeping it tidy a lot harder.

Jim do not worry to much about the paint mate. Your be surprised the black bumper is fairly easy to paint small area,s .
Just continue to take your time and if things are getting stresses have a break.
