At the top of the radiator just below the radiator cap there's a little nipple that I imagine feeds coolant when it gets hot and expands back into the tank.

Unfortunately mine snapped off, so I'm wondering if it would be feasible to tap out the hole to something like 1/8" and screw a small hose barb in there?

Has anyone done this repair before? I've already tried JB weld, superglue and hot glue but it continues to leak :angry:

I snapped mine off 3 days before Le Mans and tried all sorts, areldite, hot glue, left it in a clamp to set overnight. Even tried cable ties. No joy Sad

You could try tapping it out but it's quite fragile plastic, you'd have to be careful not to split the bit the radiator cap goes on. I guess with it being plastic you'd need to use PTFE tape on the thread to seal it as well.

Yeah it does seem rather brittle the plastic so I'm guessing that I'd be best to drill it in small increments to as close as I can get to the thread tap size, then slowly tap it to avoid stressing it. Maybe even try to do it when the rad is warm?

What did you do to resolve it in the end - new radiator?

Fortunately in my case the filler and overflow point are in the engine bay when the radiator is not so they're a separate part.

Ah buger. I guess the top tank bit of the rad isn't replaceable on its own either as I imagine it would be welded to the rest of the rad?

Maybe its a sign that I need one of those blinged out polished rads.

Well, it is available as a separate part... at half the total cost of the radiator. It has a gasket too so I guess it's clamped on.

Ahh excellent. I don't mind paying half the cost of the rad if its half the job to fit it!

Do you have a P/N at all mate?

My EPC says those 2 parts are €237.86 in total (ex VAT) when an entire radiator is €349.36 including the radiator cap so I don't think it's worth doing...

Holy shiznit! Can get an aftermarket rad for £80! Either that or maybe I'll explore how difficult it is to remove and have a trip to the breakers.

Jim be careful the rads are ali and fairly thin.

I would order the new Rad (most rads fins are pretty damaged at the bottom of the unit)but make sure its for the is300 and not the is200.

This will work out a lot less in the long run.
