I think my boost sensor might be up the swanny Sad

Does anyone in the Essex area have a boost gauge (that's not fitted to their car) which I could come round and quickly hook up to my vaucum line for a test?

Cheers boys

Cheers matey, what would be the best way to do it? Run a length of vac hose from my sensor over to your car and see if it correctly measures boost?

I'm trying to remember if you get positive boost when revving at a standstill, or do you have to have engine load?

Thats what I was wondering. It should show some boost right, but not anywhere near as much as as when the engine is under load?

My BOV starts opening at about 3K when I slowly go up through the RPM's at a standstill, but then i'm assuming that because the engine is free revving it doesn't need anywhere near as much air so the BOV starts opening to release some of the excess boost created by the S/C?

Cheers mate. I'll see if I can hook sommit up with Rabs somehow, but if not I'll take you up on that if OK.

I had a BOV open on it's own at between 3-4k before. It was dodgy and needed replacing! Should it not only dump when you lift off? Is there even such a thing as too much boost?

Should the charger not make the same boost pressure in neutral as it does under load? The drive to the charger is related to engine revs and nothing else, isn't it?

A lot of questions there, so might not help much! But these are just my ideas, and I not 100% sure of myself. Rabs? Stav? Anyone?

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

I could be wrong, but i think that because there is no engine load, the car does not need to draw in anywhere near as much air to free-rev, therefore the throttle plate isn't open anywhere near as much. However because the sc is making boost irrispective of this, it gets dumped by the bov?

Gord You don't get positive boost on a tte supercharger at standstill

Does that include revving the nuts off it too matey?

Cool. Well I can be a little less paranoid now anyways. I just switched my wideband to logging mode and went for a quick blast around. Looking back over the logs it hit 8.4 at 5800rpm, so 9 is looking quite possible at the redline.

I guess I was probably concentrating on the road more than looking at gauges the last few times I've hammered it around Smile
