Even SORN, you have to have to keep it insured these days....
Check the dvla site... Even sorn needs insurance from this year, not 100% sure at what point it starts as law, but it's definitely right.
It doesn't legally have to be, but TPFT is recommended .. but you do have be careful of the timing, if your insurance runs out 1st July and you don't declare SORN until tax renewal, say end of July, you can be prosecuted .. if there's a tax disc with a valid date it must be insured ... was my understanding of it when I considered SORNing Sachi while she was in the bodyshop and the new rules say they will write to the owners of uninsured cars and if you don't sort the issue they can impound your car and many other joyous penalties
