Don't be alarmed, its just my 5 fingers.
Don't be alarmed, its just my 5 fingers.
So we've been invited to a BBQ at my brother-in-law's place. Only thing is that he lives in a rather rough part of Essex and I'm seriously bricking it about leaving my car out on the street for several hours.
So its got me thinking about investing in a decent alarm.
What I want is...
- Tilt sensors, so if anyone tries to tow away the car or jack it up to nick the wheels the alarm goes off
- Proximity sensors, to beep when a f*ker gets too close. Like the fat birds you see trying to get out of their cars at supermarkets.
- Something to alert me of anything going on even if I'm out of hearing distance of the car alarm. Maybe even set the alarm off manually from the keyfob so if I see any yobbo's floating around the car I can disperse them.
- Retain the immobiliser.
What would you guys recommend?

Then don't worry, no -one can nick your car ... cos the batterys dead :p
go for it jimxms.
they are expensive but good alarms.
i have a viper 791xv at my lexus and bought it at 2006 for 650€ fitted.
both viper and clifford are owned from directed and they have lots of add-on.
i don't have a callguard(think its a gsm pagger).it just inform my remote for everything from a normal dest.
they are both All In A Box if i remember correctly.
only bad think is that cause i don't use the car too often all these electronic bits drains my battery
I have the avantguard on the stagea when I leave that just on the drive alarmed it lasted just over 3weeks the callguard does drain a few more mili amps but nothing to worry about I'm getting the callguard and the avantguard moves to the 350z soon
To be honest most car alarms these days can do what you ask. I know mine has an extra input for tilt sensors and a panic button function on the remote so you can set the alarm off from a distance.
Proximity sensors use microwaves instead of ultrasonics which create a sort of bubble around the car, and if anyone interrupts it you can then use that to trigger the first stage of a 2-stage alarm.
