I will soon be fitting my old charger to my new car, (possibly at JAE, with some help!) I anticipate that along the way I will have many questions to ask, and so am starting this thread for that purpose.

Knowing how much OJC crew like pics, here is my charger, and my car

I will in future have questions relating to boost upgrades, amongst other things, but for now I would like to ask about paint!

I know several members have pained their charger and/or pipework and/or intercooler. I was thinking of painting all three, as have a black on black theme going on, and think it would look pretty cool to boot. I would, ideally, need to get this done before fitted, to save a LOT of time doing it later.

What paint can anyone recommend? Will I need to use a primer first?

Sparkystav What about powder coating it all mate?

How much would this cost? Where would I even get it done? The advantage of the paint route, as I see it, is I can do it myself (if I can find somewhere to do it!) and a couple of cans of paint shouldn't cost much!

Halfords Caliper spray paint works well mate. That's what I used on my Procharger and it came out very smooth and held up really well under heat.

I'd avoid going the powdercoat route though unless you want to take the charger apart first. I would think that things like the oil seals (and the oil for that matter) wont appreciate being heated in an oven at 400c.

That's what I thought. Think I will stick to spray paint. Would the same stuff be good for charger, pipes and FMIC?
