Heres my latest thought...lets say the damage wasn't caused by a front impact. Because thinking about it, for my suggestion of the car impacting a post to be correct, it would have had to get through the crash bar first because that sticks out past the bonnet catch. (unless it was driven into a half raised car ramp or something)

Now this may be a ridiculous suggestion but....if the bonnet was removed, and then put back on so out of line that the loop on the bonnet just landed straight on top of the flat part of the catch, is it possible that the weight of the bonnet being dropped onto the catch could have smashed the catch inwards?

If it was on the copy of the inward inspection report then it must of happened before arriving at the dealership...

I suppose that could be possible, but is the bonnet dropping on to it enough of a force to bend what looks to be quite a tough piece of metal?

Although looking at the damage it does look like it's been hit from the front as everything has been pushed back rather than down (if that makes sense)

It's on the report at Lexus, the car went to the bodyshop first (which is on the Toyota side of the dealership) and then came back to Lexus for a service and a few other bits sorting (and this was when the inspection was done). So this report only says the damage was there when Lexus got the car almost a week after I dropped it off Smile

I didn't get anything from them but not sure if they did one. I've known the guy in charge of the bodyshop for years now though and he's really decent so hopefully this will get sorted smoothly and easily.

As an example the rear wing repair they just did was actually 3 years out of warranty yet he offered to repair it anyway as a gesture of goodwill.
