Ok, so to update: I got the pulley off without a problem. A spray of brake cleaner and a coating of WD40 and they came off easy enough, with the right wrench and space to access them!

This other bolt though is shaping up to be the death of me!!! :cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing::cursing:

I bought some mole grip locking pliers, but they just can't grip it. I get them on as tight as humanly possible, and still it slips when turning, started to flatter the teeth of the pliers even. This bolt is so darn tight that it isn't even funny! The bit that is stuck in there is the ball end of a 'wobbly' 6mm allen key, and I cannot get it out. When I drill it, it moves about, when I jammed it at an angle with the drill and pressed as hard as I could, my drill (fairly powerful, mains powered) and high speed metal bits cannot get a grip in it or even start to get into it, whatever it is made of, it is strong!

All I can think now is to angle grind off the entire bolt head, and I think the threads will still need drilling out too in order the get the bar off the cradle, and without that, I cannot get the cradle off the manifold! I even tried to take the manifold off with it to take to a workshop somewhere or even Jae! But I can't get all the manifold bolts out either.

This is really starting to stress me out now, as it may prevent my charger install at JAE completely.

I'm not sure there is much anyone can do! Unless you wanna pop down to Exeter with an angle grinder? Smile But any advise/ideas are appreciated.

i'll have a go at jae mate if you dont get it out...also the wobbly bits were to get the as5 off the charger...im sure i can get it out....you tryed a magnet?

I know mate. Don't blame you, as I know it was the wrong tool to use, though it wouldn't have been to hand if you hadn't suggested it! :lol:

Now, onto the problem!

A few weeks back now I noticed the charger behaving strangely, so pulled over to have a look. I found the spring from the bypass valve was gone. No idea where, but could find no trace of it!

Being miles from home I had to perform a roadside bodge, and tape the bypass valve open. Otherwise when it closed, it would not reopen, the BOV would go nuts and boost would leak from a coupole of the pipe couplings!

I have been driving like this for a couple of weeks (not driving often or many miles, as recovering from a severe hand injury). I have most of the sound of the charger...... but with none of the power!


Now I ask for your help......

I presume that sourcing a spring from whatever remains of TTE would not be a simple option, though am happy to stand corrected if anybody has had recent contact with them (Rob?)

I had the new style spring, the circular one, though the old style straight spring should work also, so I am happy to replace it with either.

Would anyone be able to get me a good photo and specs/measurements of either of the springs and/or recommend when I may be able to source a similar one from?

I'm thinking that a straight one would be easier to find, and as long as it is the correct length and about the right 'springyness' then it should work fine?

Any ideas appreciated. I'd really like my boost back now!
