Inner tie rod ends
Inner tie rod ends
Has anyone changed inner tie rod ends on there is200?
I've changed everything now from steering rack bushes, both lower control arm bushes and outer tie rod ends and all ball joints and the only possible thing that can still be slightly knocking when steering can be the inner tie rods?
Lol yeah it's driving me mad,you hear it when dry steering but when moving it's really annoying, just want to fix the fecking thing
oh, thought you said after you changed the control arm bushes it went away...
i have the same problem as you - moving steering wheel with engine on back and forth i get a knock when changing the direction that felt thru the steering wheel also.
i have ordered new bushes and inner and outer rod ends. ill do the whole lot in 1 go ( ball joints already replaced)
yeah the joint looks ok,but it seems to be excess noise coming from the balljoints on the inner rod ends.i need to get the rubber gators of to have a proper look though but the parts are only £28 off ebay and as thats the only thing i havent changed its worth a shot.
@rob the lower control arm bushes were knackered anyway and the play in them were way over excessive
ok, i had a good look at mine few weeks ago and they also look shot, i have the hardrace bushes sitting here, just need the time to do it.
i did in the past have a squeek when turning the steering wheel, that went away and now i have the knock.
For the gaitors i seem to remember the clips are re useable - DOUBLE CHECK ! if so they are clic or clic -R clamps - but you need a special set of pliers for them. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BERGEN-Profess...415c8fd230
i have a set of these and they are decent quality.
i have the car on the ramp this morning so ill try narrow down where the knock is from and let you know later.
the tie rods @28... i have ordered quite a bit from that guy and the parts are perfect, no issues at all, i had stuff in my hand 3 days after ordering it - excellent.
ok i found the source of my knocking - its the bushing at the inner of the toe control arm RH side. the movement is very very small and hardly noticable but when the arm is braced with a lever the sound stops.
for the tie rod gaiters, you can re use the clips but have new ones or alternates at hand just in case as they are a PITA to re install.
Have you got a pic rob?
