rob i normally use 0-30 due to the colder temperatures but this year i used 10-40 and it has made no difference to engine noise at all.....
but thats ok where you are, i would do the same , but for the UK they say the best oil is 10/40

Marcus_1UZ no! as to do a mod, is not going to upset the way the engine runs aless you do engine mods,
look at the end off the day you put what you want to in your engine, but i will not tell anyone to put something in there engine if its not the right item:tongue_smilie:
The spec sheets say to use Denso SK20 spark plugs (or NGK equivalent), but I use Denso IK20 because I believe they're better for the car.
The Toyota documents will say to use the official air filter element but I use a K&N air filter because I think the car runs better with it.
Similarly, Toyota might recommend a certain grade of oil, but if I have good reason that the car will run even better with something else, then I'll go for that instead :biggrin:

IS200 Turbo project now just about complete ! See my thread here and leave your comments.
Now running standalone Syvecs ECU and no stock ECU !

Nope, its just one of the recommended grades (it also does not indicate quality!)
The official OEM viscosities for these currently is 5w-30/10w-30 as standard.
