2012 MOT regulations.
So we have to do and obey what the Europeans directives do and say?
What about our use of the £ sterling, everyone else has the Euro.
Imperial measurements, mph, pints in a pub, miles/yds. Europeans are all metric.
Why can this country fight to keep some old traditional values but bow down and take it up the **** on others,
Best start finding yourselves a 'good' MOT tester then by the looks of it everyone.
Oh and I reckon the answer to getting your car past the visual part of the CAT inspection would be to have an empty canister/resonator welded in where the cat would normally be.
So long as there's a 'bulge' in the place where a cat would go and your emissions are OK, I cant see them investigating further.
My MOT tester is friendly anyway... goes by the name of Ormi...

My MOT tester is cool, but it's all computerised now. If you get pulled up within 30 days of your MOT and something is wrong with your car, which has clearly not just gone wrong, the MOT tester gets investigated. My MOT tester even told me he knows he has a fail quota, not a pass quota, he can pass as many as he likes, so long as he fails so many too. That's why he loves me, 2 20 year old Zs that actually get driven, not parked up in the garage and so every year, there are bulbs, bushes, etc.
I can't see these rules getting applied retrospectively though, just wouldn't work like with the road tax hikes. It's just not fair to change rules that effectively make cars that were legal one day illegal the next.
Going forwards though I don't really have a problem with these sorts of rules - AMG Mercs and such are insane yet still meet these regs so it can be done if you put your mind to it

HollowPoint Yeah but I own a car that thrashes AMG mercs and costs me not even a tenth of the price. If I have to start spending that much money to get my car back to standard, it will no longer thrash AMG Mercs and it'll have cost me a fortune! I reckon this is just more plans to introduce more scrappage schemes!

I'd like to think so, but unfortunately I believe Brussels are capable of such bullshit and I believe our government is weak enough to let it happen. The government is completely anti-car, anti-smoking, anti-drinking, etc. We're all supposed to sit at home staring at the wall bored out of our tiny little minds all day.
As for power, I haven't dyno'd it and it shouldn't really be THAT powerful, but I've hunted down TVRs and such before now, dragged a Ferrari and won off the lights, my R32 GTR was a LOT quicker than the Z, but the Z aint slow!
