Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the Air intake for the IS300, firstly, fits and secondly, clears the supercharger pulley?
I'm looking at getting more lovely cold air to my induction kit.

It's not a straight fit, I had to heat up the underside of the intake and flatten part of it so it would clear the coolant header tank on the back of the radiator. Bit of a PITA really as it means the outlet doesn't stay round. But it's on now and it works Smile

I'll take a picture of how it's fitted now sometime tomorrow for you.

But here's one of it just balanced in position before I'd modified it...

I'm not sure if that will clear the charger pulley either, from that pic. I have previously had a pipe that routed down the back of the reservoir that the pulley has rubbed on, and I would say that looks tight. (The pipe in question is at the bottom of this pic actually.)

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

I noticed that Dave. Though he also said that the modification was to the bottom of it, so it sat lower. I doubt this will effect how far back it goes, as depth is what is likely to effect clearance with a charger pulley, not height.

Here's some pictures of it fitted properly.

The pipe that Stoney mentioned is the radiator overflow pipe, which is just a cap on the header tank that goes to a pipe that runs down the side onto the road in case of overheating/massive coolant expansion. I just ground the top off the cap so instead of it coming out at a right angle its just a flat cap with a tiny hole in it.

And for reference incase the pictures don't give a good enough idea of positioning, the back edge of the scoop outlet is roughly inline with the front edge of the timing belt cover (maybe a 10/20mm gap if you were to draw a line across the car level with each of them)

Yeah, it is unimportant, that's why when my charger belt was eating through it, I didn't really care, and just rerouted it slightly, didn't even bother to replace the pipe that was worn through!

The pulley to drive the charger goes on the front of the other pulley, and if you reckon on 10-20mm clearance then it would be VERY tight with the belt, which comes up and to the side, to the pulley on the charger itself, which is roughly level with the outlet of the scoop. I'm not sure it would clear. If it did though, I would want a scoop like this too!

Is your air filter wearing a coat? Is it getting ready for winter?

I was so relieved when I realised the end of the pipe went nowhere as it nearly ruined my plan for the scoop!

I can actually measure the distance from the back of the radiator to the back of the scoop outlet or something if you guys want work out more accurately if it will fit or not?

Stoney Is your air filter wearing a coat? Is it getting ready for winter?

It is indeed, got a 'K&N Drycharger'. Just a fine plastic/silcone mesh cover that keeps rain, flies and other **** off the filter Smile

A measurement from the back of the scoop to any fixed point (back of rad is as good as any) might be useful. I will also try to take some measurements in a minute of exactly how the two charger pulleys and belt sit, in order to make comparisons.

:offtopic: Might look into that filter coat! Does it effect the airflow or the sound at all?

Dean has one on his IS300, i was looking at it at JAE, it must restrict to an extend because when he rev'd the engine it sucked onto the filter and off again.
