Re: my testing the water thread HERE I have decided to sell up my car PC install.

It consists of the following:

Asus Netbook with Full version of Centrafuse including European maps.
Waterproof magnetic USB GPS Reciever
Lexus 7" Flip up nav housing custom fitted with 7" touchscreen monitor
Monitor has 2 x Video Inputs, IR Reciever built into housing with remote, Reverse camera detection, VGA input and touchscreen interface
12v cigarette lighter charger for the Netbook
And a 350GB (I think) slim external hard drive with about 91 digital format films which can be watched through the Centrafuse interface.

Centrafuse interface enables the playback of music and videos though the touchscreen controls. And also has 'Apps' for things like WiFi internet, weather, email etc.

Seems ridiculous to sell it, but the only time I've ever used it is when showing off to mates. lol Just seems like a waste having such a capable setup just sat there doing nothing.

I will however be looking to replace it at a later date with one of the 5" versions with a built in aftermarket sat nav like the ones Stav makes, as the GPS was the only function I've ever used properly.

Difficult to put a price on it as it's taken a fair bit of work and research to not only build the whole thing, but to source all the best components and software to use.

I've been through and worked out the cost (excluding my time) to replicate the system, and based on the figure I came to I'm going to say that the first person to offer me £500 for it can have it.

Lastly, notes to potential buyers:

To get sound to play through your car speakers you either need to have a GROM interface with an AUX input, or an aftermarket stero with an AUX input.

A power feed for the monitor and laptop (although this will last hours on a single charge anyway) will need to be sourced (I took mine from the cigarette lighter wiring) and also you will need to splice a constant live, switched live and earth connection from the back of the radio to enable the correct functioning of the flip up housing. Diagrams for which I can provide if needed.

Well...having become impatient and bought the mods I was going to use the money from this for, I could really do with shifting this soon. lol

I'll give it a couple more days on here before it goes on eBay.

Just to put into perspective what a great deal this is...

Netbook £200
7" Lexus Housing £200
7" Touchscreen £100
Centrafuse Software £90
USB GPS Receiver £35
12v Netbook Charger £20
Slim External Hardrive £80
90+ Digital format films (took weeks to convert them all to digital, plus the cost of the software to do it)

So you're looking at at least £700 for the main items, plus the fact you're buying a pre-converted flip up touchscreen (not easy to do)

I will consider sensible offers over £400 as I need this gone sooon :whistling:

If I had not just bought strut braces, decat, wheels and tyres, I would have had this off you mate. But I just have no more money for now. Maybe in another month or so, but this doesn't help you if you want it shifted soon!

haha, I think we've both fallen victim to Jim's breaking thread :p

I'm not in a big enough rush to let it go for silly money (no more so than I already am) so it may still be here.

If you don't want the screen or the laptop that doesn't really leave anything else though..?

northernmonkey Greeny,

And I'm quite happy for people to do deals and split it between yourselves.

But I'd rather not split it unless it results in selling the whole lot, because trying to sell the laptop with Centrafuse on its own will be hard I think.

Quite interested in this.

Does the sound play back through the car set-up, how is it connected up?

Does it come with satnav.

Any chance of a small video of it in operation?

Cheers
