Right, my current mods are: ebc,intercooler,mongoose exhaust,blitz induction,decat-on a rev1 mr2 turbo.
before the ebc/mongoose/intercooler it was hitting 224.9bhp and 209ftlbs,so i imagine now it's running at around 245/250?
I spoke to Luke at pacific works (mr2 specialist) and he would charge around £1500 for a metal head gasket and ct20b turbo (supplied+fitted).
What i can't decide is whether it's going to be more beneficial just getting a rev3 lump put into it.luke does a 'labour free' option, as follows: buy a rev3, crash damaged, but good engine, he swaps it over, keeps the rev3 car, and doesnt charge labour..he reckons i can get a damaged rev3 for around £1200, but im struggling to find any!

So my question to the mr2 owners,(and anyone else who may know) is whether they do come up at that price now and again, where to find them, and if its actually better long term to go down that route as apposed to sticking a metal gasket/ct20b on my rev1 engine..i would like to be running at around 350/360bhp eventually.

look for a Rev 5 tubby, you pay a bit more but get a stronger engine.
Keep your eye on IMOC there is usually a crashed one there, especially as we are coming into some colder more slippery weather.

look for a Rev 5 tubby, you pay a bit more but get a stronger engine.
Keep your eye on IMOC there is usually a crashed one there, especially as we are coming into some colder more slippery weather.

Ok thanks for the advice..i didnt realise there was any difference between the rev3/4/5 engines..to be honest im working on a bit of a budget-planning to move out next year, so shouldnt even be considering this..but..i have the bug Tongue

When a Rev3 decides to break it goes at the Thermostat housing, rather then the head gasket, the Rev5 has a reinforced block to stop this happening.

Toxo will explain more he knows a hell of a lot more then I do:wink:

no i've never driven, or been in a rev3..and certainly never felt 350ish bhp, im just basing it on the difference the ebc and intercooler made..
once ive got a metal gasket/or later rev lump, i may go for a hybrid turbo, but again i'm clueless..Blush

You can easily build a very powerful rev2, but its a few more £'s.

Here is a tip, bring nice chocolate to Ace Cafe and sweet talk Legs-MR2 into a ride in her 320bhp Rev 3 ;-) or she may let me take you out and I will turn up the boost to 350bhp :whistling:

2tongues-everyone i've spoken to says the ct26 is harder, that the ct20b is a lot more linear/smooth, im definately not wanting anything too smooth..but at the same time want something that holds boost right up the revs.
