I just recieved and fitted my grom and cradle from Jim today (Ta very much!) but I'm struggling to get to grips with working the ****** thing even after finding the instructions!

Can you only operate the playlists from the head unit? I'm finding I'm having to still mess about with the phone to get the albums i want.

Is it possible to select albums and tracks using the grom via the headunit?

From what I remember of the instructions on mine...

To be able to manually control the music with the phone itself the CD changer must be set to 'Disc 1'

Disc 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 etc. will make the phone go into 'connected mode' and you can only then change songs with the head unit.

So Disc 1 will be manual control, Disc 2 will be your first playlist, Disc 3 will be your second playlist and so on...

So if you want your playlists in a particular order on the CD changer (like I did)

You have to name them something like this so it tricks the Alphabetical sorting function...

01 - Jazz
02 - Hippy Stuff
03 - Rock and Rooooollllll
etc.

See, this is where an old bloke like me starts getting confused. Playlists?! Lol

I just want to be able to pick an album, listen to it and skip the tracks if i want to!

I can never think of enough songs to put in a particular 'playlist'!

Cheers for the advice though mate.

In that case you'll have to leave the headunit set on 'Disc 1' and choose the album manually from the phone. But once it's selected you can change songs, skip, shuffle etc. from the headunit.

I've got my iPod connected so the lead exits the centre console underneath where the TRC/SNOW and heated seat buttons are, right infront of the gear stick. So it's easy to quickly select an album without leaning over or stretching too far to use it.

Pretty much the same place as I have mine, except mines on the other side.

Oh, you can? Well that's not too bad, I'll have a proper play with it tomorrow. I struggled with sound quality at first till i realised I didn't have it set to ipod mode Undecided

Then i bent the pins on the ipd lead, fml! All working now though.

I've got the version of the GROM that is iPod specific but also has an AUX input too. And when I fitted it I just plugged in a 3.5mm cable and routed it to the glovebox incase I wanted to play music from a non-apple device and I've found that if I either leave the other device plugged in at the same time (even if its not turned on) or the connector rests on something metallic in the glovebox, I get terrible alternator feedback.

If you set the albums you want to listen too as playlist's (in itunes) you can just skip through the albums one by one till you find the one you want, then using the track selection button you can skip the tracks you dont want to listen to.

I have the grom kit fitted to my IS200 which i just with my ipod touch, iphone 3gs and ipod 60gb.
They are all set the same way for playlists, so which ever is connected i know in which order they will play.

Dont foget that your first playlist will be a "fake" as the grom kit cant find it??

So as an eg:
Playlist #
1, fake
2, abba
3, back street boys
4, Chaka Khan
and so on.

If you dont want to have to keep pressing next album to get to a fav album then name that playlist eg:
1, fake
2, 01 Yazzu
3, 02 Whitesnake
4' 03 Tears For Fears

Hope this help....

BTW i dont have any on these albums on any of my ipods!
I only chose these bands/ groups to help bridge the age gap lol.

Although i may have Abba on there some where :blushing:
