Thanks mate, it's taking a long time to get it right. Smile

As for my updates for today, it was a late start at about 1:30pm but we got her home and started cleaning the engine bay, then I spent my time getting the box on with the rest of the hoses etc put back too. Turns out that I ordered the 100% perfect length of Samco hose, no extra and no stretching either! Fookin perfect!

Got the Air Filter and Idle Up VSV Lines installed:

Washer Jets:

Found a place for the TRD Badge:

The back was way too clean and I didn't want to spoil it!

Dust Caps, greased and tightened:

I will start by pointing out that today has been the most pig ugly, bull-****, butt-shafting load of misery that I have ever been through.

Everything and I do mean everything was a faff. The engine refused to dock itself so everything got scratched in the folly, the best most visible bits of paint need touching up which we all know doesn't give the best finish, and the Slave Cylinder has now gotten stuck fully extended and refuses to pop back in. I don't know what to do with that.

Next was me trapping my finger as the engine swung towards the timing end mount, my finger got between a couple hundred KG of Engine and that mounting bracket - it ****** hurts.

Then my mate did the same thing, except he didn't have a bucket to kick the living **** out of like I did.

So once the engine was finally in after stopping several times for rain I could remove the sheets from the wings to reveal that my O/S Front Wing had THREE lovely dinks in it which are likely un-pullable. Marvellous.

At this point called it a day and went inside to cry and contemplate burning the car with me inside...

... and as usual I regained my stamina and went back out there, blitzed everything and generally got the car back to life. The electrics now work and we have lights etc but no start. Tomorrow I am off out to get 4 copper washers for the Oil Cooler Unions, CV Grease, Antifreeze and Clutch Fluid if air has gotten into the system.

Because I have been so sodding miserable I didn't take pictures, and it hurts too much to look at the dents, so you will have to wait Tongue

The day itself has been about as pleasurable as finding my testes in a vice lined with chilli, whilst surrounded by a burning house. HOWEVER, what I cannot overlook is the fact that the engine is in and looking fairly sweet, the electrics work and I am hours away from first start... so OJC.... do we call this success or failure?

I'm going with Success. Wink

Definite success. It doesn't come without a few scratches.

Very true, except my list is getting larger!

She is being sent in next week to have ALL bodywork defects taken out, she is at MK cruise tomorrow though, then she comes off the road for the winter until next show season.

I'll still be tweaking her though mind, I'm still not satisfied, and the next big thing to go on is going to be the Polybush kit I've had sat in my room for a while

Here is the latest bit of misfortune... nothing to do with me, just the paint:

But here is the prettier bit of the car lol

The body still looks awesome but I want it pristine.

Good thread Smile
I had 2 AE92's - a 89 early spec and a 91 late spec model both in red.
Always wanted one in the nice sage green colour though.
Only thing that let them down for me was the over assisted steering - ended up getting a nice black AE82 as they had no power assistance.
But as said brilliant thread and well done for getting stuck in there

Thank you fella!

They're excellent cars, I have kept the PAS on my white one for the sake of it being easier to live with.

My red one however is going to be Manual Steering, mostly to save space but also because I want to have more feel in the twisties.

Should have a few small shots tomorrow after a good old clean, will hopefully have her finished and ready for the next season. Not far to go until I'm happy for her to be shown, but a long way until I cans stop tweaking it lol

I might come and find you tomorrow night if I'm not too knackered from the weekend.

Presumably mudflaps are meant to be flexible and therefore paint is not the best idea... Wink

Make sure you do find me if you're there!

Normally yes, but these are plastic formed around a metal frame, and they had paint from factory. I'm not too sure why this has happened but it'll be sorted soon enough!

Here's a pic of them as they were:

I'm getting her cleaned up today Big Grin I'm happy to chat if you can make it Smile

And I have just found that the spoiler is cracking too. I don't know what to do anymore with this car, in all honesty there is a growing part of me that just wants it gone for good. I'm just never going to get this thing completed.. every time one things goes right two others go wrong and I am so tired of it...
