350z vs Winter
350z vs Winter
Hey guys
Having a bit of trouble with my MR2 at the moment (http://www.outlawjapclub.co.uk/forum/sho...post163064) and have been looking at getting a 350z for a while but wasn't planning on getting one till next summer.
Anyway, with the MR2 playing up im debating biting the bullet, blowing my savings and getting one now before the winter.
I was hoping you guys could advise me on what they are like to drive in the winter with icy/slushy roars and all.
I live in a village which has no way of getting out of it without going up or down a hill so if the weather is REALLY bad, (IE snow drifts) my boss will let me work from home instead of risk my neck trying to get there so im not even contemplating driving it in the snow.
Thanks a lot.
Shame about the MR2 mate, obviously a z forum would be the best place to start, but your in luck cause we have had a few members get one of these over the last few months!
Lovely cars
driving aids are a pita especially in snow if you have big wide chunky wheels, plus the 350z is very tail happy and very light, vix and rabs are the best people to ask
I'm not looking forward to mine in winter and she will pretty much be stationary if the weather is bad, a few people on the zed forum had accidents last year and one couldn't even get her car out of her road as she lives in a village too. Wide tyres and twitchy rear is not great in snow/ice, even in the wet you have to keep your wits about you. Have a look on http://www.350z-uk.com for loads of info and threads especially on winter driving
mine is very rear happy in the wet so wouldn't like to think what it is like in the snow and ice.
It said the other morning that it was 2 degrees outside and ice and it was right lol it doesnt take much to slide
that's why i have a Nissan stagea for the winter its 4 wheel drive and a turbo, i do however have the other one up for sale if your interested its a great car and just got an mot about 4 hours ago lol
I have driven my Supra and my old MR2's in the snow and ice before... as long as you drive very sensibly you will be ok...If the snow is that bad i would not take any car out personally... The one thing you will find is that the car will be a little cheaper if you buy now so i say go for it mate !
If you get winter tyres tell your insurance company, some see these as mods as this was checked out on the zed forum last year when one guy fitted them and because he didn't inform the insurers they said if he had had an accident they wouldn't cover it! My zed will not be out in bad weather, I have chains for my boots and use those instead, easier, safer and cheaper to replace lol
