ad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. ad:Even more scary, I just realised I was on the M5 at about 8:30 last night , when it happened! Was very foggy. Though it was J23-26 affected (and still closed now!) and I only got on at J29 and headed in the opposite direction, so wasn't too close to the danger, but still.... ****!!!

That is how these things happen. Just highlights the dangers of driving these conditions. Last I heard it was something like 27 vehicles, including 6 HGVs, 7 confirmed dead, (though some reports say it could be as many as 16 dead!) and 50+ hospitalised with injuries. NASTY!!!

People still need to learn to adapt to the road and weather conditions.
Sad so many people have been killed.

But I agree that it was probably inadequate space left between cars and then the ripple effect from the first persons brake lights that caused it.
Or it could have been something unavoidable like a blowout that started it off, who knows.

This was either a driver not paying attention or a general accident i.e vehicle failure.
I just think its funny that people at the moment are more concerned with blaming someone for what happened then getting this sorted out.

Don't believe that rubbish about smoke from the Fireworks, that part of the M5 is always foggy this time of the year.
