I miss our old S-class, that thing was built like a tank - the doors were literally twice as thick as the doors on the IS. Plus there was a level of excess that seems to have disappeared from cars - nowadays toys need to be functional, that S-class had truly ridiculous things like an electric rear view mirror (who needs that?) and an electric pop out boot handle to prevent you from getting your hands dirty Smile

2002 '02' IS200 SE Auto - DVD Satnav with Voice Activation - Strathcaron Blue - Parking Sensors - 5000K HIDs with Anti-Glare Bulbs - PIAA 6500K Main Beams - LED Sidelights - Mirror/Sunroof Closure - TTE Styling Kit - 18" Styling Kit Alloys with nitrogen filled Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric Tyres - Bluetouch Multimedia Kit - Gromaudio AUX in - Black painted calipers with silver Lexus decals - 12 LED Dome Light - 96 LED Boot Light - Stainless Steel Sport Sill Plates - PIAA Silicone Wipers

LOL. I hope the Jag XJR's have lots of unnecessary gadgets too. Although I don't need any of it, I'll kinda miss the toys the LS has!

But she has gotta go. I did the KFC drive thru on the way home from work this evening and it barely fitted between the bollards. It felt like I was trying to manoeuvre a stretched limmo around an advanced driving course.

Had it have had a dishy VIP set of rims poking out of the arches, I think I would have got wedged.

I presume your LS has the ridiculous toys like Jim's - the widget that automatically fans the vents around for you, configurable smog levels, etc. To be honest I thought the motorised steering column in mine was overkill but that was before I went in a 430!!

Oh yes all of that along with adaptive cruise control, precrash system, electric rear blind, side blinds, reversing cam, fridge, ridiculously adjustable front and rear seats....

OK, so I went and looked at a 2005 Jag XJR today and came away totally unimpressed. So I'm back to having absolutely no idea of what I want to drive next Sad

- Needs to be rocket ship fast
- Comfortable
- Spacious in the back with a good boot.
- Good looking / Sporty / Aggressive
- Not ten to a penny common.

Mostly the look of it to be honest. I just don't think I can see myself driving around in one.

Maybe it was the spec/colour combo, but it just didn't do anything for me at all. I didn't even bother to test drive it I was so disappointed with the appearance of it in the flesh.

I much prefer the X-Type looks, but they are slow, **** and everyone has one.

So far you have described an Aristo.

"Life's goal is not to arrive safely at the grave in a well preserved body. But, rather to skid in sideways........
totally worn out and broken, shouting 'Holy ****, WHAT A RIDE!'"

£10k or lower. And yeah I've got the Aristo on my radar. There's one on ebay at the moment with the Vertex kit that looks quite nice. Only problem is I'm not sure if I could own a '98-99 car and I wouldn't exactly rate it as a good looking car?
