Vibrating noise while driving
Comes on usually within the first 5 minutes of driving, very loud vibrating noise. I can just about feel it through the steering, I reckon it's probably coming from the front. Gets a LOT worse when travelling at higher speeds, it seems to increase in intensity and frequency with the speed of the car (not engine revs).
Completely disappears when I turn left.
Someone help, it's driving me mental and I really want to fix it.

17-10-2018, 11:53 AM #1Right, I've had enough with this friggin noise. I've had the back brakes apart completely and it doesn't look like the handbrake enclosure vibrating.. symptoms are as follows:

17-10-2018, 11:55 AM #2Also: Already checked the brake callipers, one of them was sticking but I've refurbed all of them and there is no vibration in the brakes at all.

17-10-2018, 12:11 PM #4I've had a wobble of all 4 wheels, can't feel any up/down play in them. What exactly am I looking for on the rear drive shafts? It came on before I changed the roll bars and we didn't see anything broken looking at the back, so I'll need to know what to watch out for.
el_bandido Also: Already checked the brake callipers, one of them was sticking but I've refurbed all of them and there is no vibration in the brakes at all.Sticking brakes often lead to warped discs, which can cause vibrations at certain speeds. Are you sure the discs are ok?

17-10-2018, 01:26 PM #6I did spin the disk of the stuck calliper while the wheel was free, it didn't appear to have bent to any visible degree. I'd also expect to be able to feel that through the pedals? I'll whip the wheels off again soon and double check. Can always replace the disks without wasting too much money.

Balljoints? Mine vibrated like crazy at high speeds when my balljoints were knackered

Edit 2: How hard to replace are they? Just been reading that I need some kind of press? Is it worth going to lexus and getting them done?

17-10-2018, 02:32 PM #9Could be the ball joint, if you are going down a road with a slight camber, release the steering wheel and see if it suddenly swerves in one direction or the other, if the noise happens more when going over bumps, it could be your anti rollbar droplinks, hope this helps
Edit: Plus the noise started before I changed the roll bars.

17-10-2018, 02:40 PM #10Matt - noise does not appear to be affected by the surface of the road, no more than the usual road noise anyway. New drop links were put on with the roll bars so I'm hoping it isn't them!
