Ok so i have got one of the remote folding number plate kits for the 350z as the front of the car looks so much sexier without a plate on it

here is the before
[Image: a275dfde.jpg]

Here is the after
[Image: 0928ec21.jpg]

This is the kit all i have to work out now is the best way to mount it so that it can withstand motorway speeds when folded out during driving

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcsVN8pIxYg

im also thinking i may well wire it into the alarm system that way when ever i unlock the car it will fold out and when i re lock the car it will fold away thus never forgetting to display the plate and staying legal. of course at shows ill need an override switch to fold it away when un locked for photo purposes...

So what are your views ....

Just fitted one to the Trans Am, really cool things.

Looks great mate. I love it. Though not sure about having it fold up with the alarm set (as cool as that is!) Is it not a legal requirement to display both plates when parked on a road or public car park?

Confusedad: It was a tough call to make, but the Supercharged IS200 is being retired. Confusedad:

For ease mine is just off the fuse board and then a remote.

I'm pretty sure the same rules apply when you are parked on a road as when you are driving on one? Two plates visible at all times. You must also have a valid tax disk, insurance, MOT and legal tyre tread etc. even if you are not in motion! So the (cool as hell) flip down can probably only be (legally) used when on private land, I would imagine.

With stoney on this one, as cool as it would be having it fold away when locked could lead you to a world of trouble with the plod, just keep it on a manual switch that way no messing around with alarm or having a manual override for shows.

You could get some stig of a police officer who will say you are doing it to avoid speedcamers/anpr etc

The law is as Stoney has said. The only reason I got one was its the easiest way to put a numberplate onto a car that isn't designed to have one. However at shows it will look good with it flipped away.
