Got a big problem!
Finished working my first night shift this morning, and went to car to go home and couldn't get in.
The light on the key flashes when I press the button, but doesn't lock/unlock/or open boot! Tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, and no-where was open to get a replacement at that time.
If the light is flashing does that mean there is enough charge in the battery?
I had to leave the car at work, and come home in a taxi! So I could do with knowing if I need to take more then just a new battery over with me tonight!
I can still open the door, and the car starts up, but obviously the car alarm is going as soon as I open the locks.
Help! Please! :*(
think you need a new battery, as it probably doesnt have enough strengh to send the radio signals but just enough to trigger the light, new battery should do the trick for you mate im sure the battery type is 'CR1616'
does sound a bit like the battery could also be that its lost the coding as i thought you could unlock the car with the key and the alarm shouldnt go off....
"been a while since i had the car with standard alarm in it"
Usually if you put the key in the ignition the alarm will stop not long after? another daft little trick if you have a low battery is hold the key to your head, and for some reason it uses you as the antenna, and gives off a better signal  not really sure why it works but has a few times in the past for me? read it somewhere on the web and it does actually work, it even extends the distance you can unlock/lock your car from
i think you just have to leave it long enough for the ignition to realise that you are actually using the correct key and you should be ok
I thought that as well once you turn the key the alarm should go off
