Sticking throttle
Sticking throttle
Hi guys I have a bit of a problem, when I give my car full throttle it sticks pedal stays on the floor and it stays at full throttle and eventually releases.
It is worse when cold when it get's up to operating temp it's not as bad. If I don't give it full throttle it's fine also my tick over is now 1,000 rpm where as it's usually 750.
I have recently moved the air temp sensor to the back of the supercharger and also have started using high octane fuel.
The cables seem to be fine but the throttle assembly on the throttle body seems a little grindy. If I take the throttle body off and give it a good clean what is the best lubricant to use??
Also could it be anything else??
Thanks in advance Pete.
Carb cleaner is best to use mate I reckon.
But as for it sticking I can't remember exactly but is the spring not on the throttle pedal itself. Is that in good nick?
Hmm i didn't check that like a thicko lol will check that aswell. I did squirt some carb cleaner down it last night and all was fine until I had a cheeky play with a astra turbo on my way home tonight. Pedal stayed on the floor and it was bouncing off the limiter so quickly shut engine off and coasted to the side of the road.
Pedal then released itself drove home not using full throttle with no further issues apart from the tick over. But thanks for the info on the spring Stav will check that out. 1 rep heading your way
Would you adam and eve it we cleaned the car out the weekend removing the matts giving them a hoover and all the rest put the matts back in forgot about the retaining clip on the drivers side, so what happened the matt moved forward and the pedal get's stuck under the matt.
So now I am going to take myself off to the nearest corner and give myself a slap.
Moral of the story make sure your matts are secure.:o
Was going to say had exactly the same issue with my Lexus mats.
Full beans and the throttle would stick to the floor, happened three or four times, i thought at first it may be the strut brace as the throttle cable passes very close it but soon realised like you my mats were working their way forward and the leading pedal edge was sticking under them.. doh!
Glad you sorted it :thumbup1:
On a side note does anyone know where to get the retaining clips for the matts from please on their own??
I have the same issue with mine, has done it half a dozen times! Though I recognise it quickly and hit the clutch and or cut the ignition while I slide the mat back, with no major incidents thus far! I have had this in a couple of other cars too. I need to secure the mats, I know, though intend to replace them anyway so have kinda been putting it off! I'll tell you one thing though, having the throttle jammed open, even with the clutch in, will draw attention in an underground car park if you have a supercharger!
