Hi guys,

The missus had my Lex today and went up her parents house. Then I have a phone call saying her younger brother was playing football in the street, and has hit the drivers side wwing mirror and its hanging off. So I went up there and its just hanging by its wire looking sorry for itself. I've had a look on ebay and theres quite a few on there, but mostly early ones. Lots of 2000ish ones. My cars a '03 so would they all fit, or are there difference with mounting and wires? If anyones on here has got one, I'd rather give a fellow member a few quid than some scrappy. I dont need the whole mirror, just the triangle mount bit with the bracket on it. I've borrowed a van from work so not in an immediate rush to get it perfect, but need to move it from the inlaws to my garage, so need to take the mirror off in the morning. Where is the plug, is it in the door or in the mirror, if its in the door, do I need to take the door card off? Ive had a nose behind the tweeteer and couldnt see a plug, but didn't delve deeper at the time cos I didnt have any tools on me. Im gonna have a search on here now for a walk through, but I don't remember ever seeing one. Any adice would be great, Im gonna stick it in the garage for a week or so and try and do a few more jobs at the same time.

Just been having a look on ebay, and all the resonably priced ones are all pre 2001 ones. I'll keep trying to look for a post 2001 mirror, but would it be possible to just swap the base plate from an early one?

Thanks

Gareth

Yes the base plates are the same.

The only difference in the mirrors on the IS200 was that the later ones were heated when you put the rear screen on and the early ones are on all the time. But that's just different wiring and will be inside the car so you'd notice no difference with the mirror itself

I may have one in my garage but I think it might be the passenger side. I'll check later.

Hi Stav thanks for the reply.

I've taken the mirror off this morning, bit of a pain, couldnt get the door card off completely so had to use a long screwdriver to undo the plug while pulling the card away a bit. The bit that was stuck is the interior door handle, got the screw out but couldn't pull the handle off. Was really cold outside so didnt want to pull to hard incase I snapped something.

When I got the mirror off, its got a 10 way plug, from a bit of digging last night it seems early ones have got just 8 pins. But if the base plates are the same then i can just use my mirror, I'll just have to cut and rejoin the wires to get them through the plate.

By complete coincidence, I bought some 3m Dinoc this week with the intention of wrapping my spoiler and wing mirrors, so what ever colour mirror I get it doesn't matter. Some would say it could be fate, lol. And now I've got the van from work I wont have to rush the job to use the car the next day.

Thanks again
