Hello

Im looking to buy a good camera and since i know nothing about camera's your advise will be much appreciated

So what am i going to use it for

As like most of us, i will be using it for Car shows, racing / action shots, pets/Animal, holidays and i would also like to record in HD too..

Now i know there are 4 main types of camera's

1) Digital compact

2) Bridge camera

3) Compact system camera's

4) Digital SLR's...The daddy

My budget for the camera is around £250 - £330 and will be getting from Jessops as i have a few ££ in vouchers.

I was looking at SLR's but with my budget i can only afford the cheapest one which they seem to start at £330. Now im thinking of getting a bridge camera instead

There seem to be a few on here which looked good, any advise which seems to be the better one

http://www.jessops.com/online.store/cate.../Show.html

P.S Dave, i still cant rename a link..... Im just stupid lol

Thanks for your help

I thought that had been superseded by the HS20 now? Or is that much more expensive?

Based on your requirements and budget I think a bridge will serve you perfectly.

Not sure how much the bridge cameras cost really, but worth looking at the Panasonic Lumix ones as they are generally quite good.

I think it has, I think the HS10 has been discontinued.

And just to confuse things there is also Sony's new range of SLT's which might be worth looking at if you want to do video as they have much better constant focus than an SLR.

Mike the one i use is the Fuji HS20 EXR, And the older one i use is the Fuji S9600, the HS20 is very good for what i use it for, JESOPS LINK HERE! It does work very well and the amount of different settings on it will take you a while to figure out? the only thing i wish it had was a paper manual? the one you get with it is on the software disc (unless you print it all off?) Best thing to do mate is go and have a look at them?

The HS20 has just been superseded by the HS30, but after a quick look its out of the price range given

LOL don't mind mate Big Grin The HS30 comes out next month by the look of it at jessops, but ranges from around £370 to £400+ and knowing Jessops it'll be the higher price range for a while?

The only real downside to the HS20 is the battery's it uses which are the AA type, the newer HS30 now uses a Lithium-ion rechargeable battery which is something i've always said would be better? But saying that with the 2900MAH rechargeable AA ones i use, i can get around 250 - 400 photos so not too bad?
