sprinter2012 I still think the charger kit prices need to come down a lot before I'd consider buying one as they are a wearing item so they can't carry on being £2K forever.

Yes they can! Their number is limited. I believe 250 kits were made worldwide, not all of them will still be around, and even fewer will regularly come up for sale. As long as demand is high, and kits sell for £2k fairly quickly after coming up for sale, then they will hold their price, forever! Basic economics! Smile

EDIT:
Quote:The Lexus IS 200 was our first supercharger system that we have developed. Lexus Switzerland has sold a special edition of 50 units with 186PS. We have also sold 250 units to TTE (Toyota Team Europe). In Switzerland we have sold another 100 systems for the IS200, mostly the 205PS version.

I think Stix said he could get the price down to about £275 when he got them to re-quote, although that may change if it's a different supplier.

But tbh I wouldn't have any problem paying £300 for a well produced cradle because I could do everything myself and the whole thing would easily cost less than a grand all in.

EDIT: And what happens to the TTE kit prices when people start realising the intercoolers are corroding, and the rubber hoses are perished, and the rotors need servicing, and the cables for the bypass valve are getting stiff etc. They will wear out eventually, basic mechanics Wink

Indeed. To be honest, I thought £300 odd for a well produced one to be a fair price. You could make up a kit well under £1000 then.

Yes, good comeback. However most kits that sell on the forum now have replaced cables, new(ish) silicone couplings, polished piping/charger, new black boxes etc. and extras such as BOVs and induction kits. Plus many of us have recently serviced and changed the oil, bearings and seals in our chargers, keeping them in top condition. Every time I mentioned on the forum I had a charger kit on a crashed car I wasn't using I got a torrent of PMs with offers over £2k.

Anyhow, I have a receipt for £5.5k from Lexus for my charger kit and I hope to get £2k for it when I do sell it (which will be no time soon, before anyone PMs me for it!)

I don't see TTE kits dropping to £1k any time soon, so for those guys that want a £1k charger kit this custom cradle fabrication will be the key that unlocks the door to boost!

what would be great is if we had someone who had a cradle and would let people copy it as i think it would only take 2-3 days to do

Well the bonus for me is I don't have to pay any machining time, and can get materials at cost. Stoney, I want to give it a go, ill be in touch with you and see if there is a convenient time to borrow yours.

Well tbh I don't really care where it comes from, as far as I'm concerned the first person to get one copied to a good standard gets my money. (as long as it isn't insanely expensive)

I don't really want to pay out £200+ for a charger when I can't guarantee being able to mount it. Sad
