The good news is, after building a little circuit board for the capacitors and diodes today, it's in and working.
I've still got to put the starter wire from the ignition in (i thought i had got away with it but alas not. If i start it straight away then it's fine, but if i leave the ignition for a few seconds then it crashes, the starter wire mod will solve this)
Anyway, a quick vid, and Thanks once again to everyone :lol:

Never saw what you wrote mate, i've still got some software settings to sort too, but nothing to sad I don't think, and i need to but a obd2 bluetooth transmitter for the torque app, but the (very!) hard bit is done! :-)

The one that is fitted is an older tablet, I went for it because it was £50 and had the built in gps (not the greatest but it works). It also has a resistive screen which ideally i didn't want, but then it is just going to (at the mo) run the 2 apps, sat nav and torque.
Now i'm off to find a obd transmitter which will hopefully turn off with the ignition, or it could mean a rewire of the obd socket.

Looks pretty sweet there! Me likey... I take it you plan to disable the lockscreen in Android so that the tablet starts directly onto the homescreen? I believe there are a few apps that can manage this...

The tablet itself
I used a Witstech A81E (as said, it was 7 inch and had the built in gps) £50

I also used 2 2200uf capacitors and 2 1N5820 diodes and a bit of bread board for mounting the, along with a 4 pin relay, a single external speaker about £20
That's the major bits that i can think of, you'll also need a low temp soldering iron, solder, a dremel, and i used an angle grinder for the metal casing because the screen was too big to rotate without removing some of it, masses of various wire and patience! I have no understanding of the theory of electronics and still managed it using this guide i found (translate in google chrome)
