One has a xenon bulb as standard, one has a halogen bulb as standard...
Also, the xenon headlight will have automatic adjusting which only the IS200 LE and the IS300 have, whereas the halogen headlight has manual adjusting by the little dial inside the car itself.

Also, the HID headlight housings are a bit larger.

Here's a comparison:

As Patrik said, I think by Xenon he means HID, in which case the reflector is different internally, and as above, the casing is bigger to take the ballasts.

Would I have to modify it in any way?

You have to cut out a bit of the fender/wing so the ballast part of the unit will fit I think. Patrik might know as I think his were retro-fit HIDs?

if you are going for a retro fit, why not look in to projectors at the same time? You can just upgrade your existing lights then.

I think his avatar is standard light units with CCFL halos fitted.

If you want HID with a flat cutoff your options are fit the IS300 lights, or fit projector lenses inside your current lights.

I'm thinking of doing it at some point, but I'm going to go for the IS300 retrofit myself as I haven't seen any projector kits that don't look 'stuck on'
