Rusty sunroof :Sulk:
Hi guys,
Noticed a while ago, the inside front lip of my sunroof is going rotten. I did think about rubbing it down and trying to spray it, but don't fancy doing it in the car, so would have to take it out, and to be honest I think it might be too far gone to respray. I've had a look on ebay and quite often theres a sunroof mech for around £50, which isnt too bad, question is how hard is it to change. The roof lining would need to come down, but Im guessing that the lining wont come all the way out with the windscreen in. Has anyone had to swap one? Maybe even swapping one cos of a knackered mech, but still got a good glass and surround I could relieve them of for a a few beer tokens?
Annoyingly I've never been able to find a leak so can only think the water is coming in between the glass and the rubber.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Gareth
Mikey first off remove all the inside pillars then the map and centre light then grab handles then the rooflining should come down but hard to get out the door with out bending a little.

the sunroof assembly is quite big you have got to remember where it goes when you slide it open you could just possibly lean the front seats right back so they are quite flat an just rest the lining there, but it would be awkward getting in the car to get the assembly down without damaging the lining.
you know that lexus has a 12 year rust warranty. check if it's still covered. but i think it needs to be a hole in it
