Evening guys

I've spent all afternoon pulling my dash apart, followed Bandit's great guide how to connect the bypass lead, followed it and got it plugged in.

Have connected it the the back of my head unit (Pioneer AVH-4400BT) connected the antena but no power is going to it, can't turn it on at all.

No fuses are blown, the by pass cable is auto-leads, so really not expecting that to be the problem.

I haven't connected the green hand brake cable anywhere yet though because I've got the relay for the video bypass, but before I do that I want the headunit to turn on in the first place.

Is it because the handbrake cable isn't attached anywhere a reason as to why I won't see the unit turn on?

If so, can someone please tell me exactly where I can attach it to, I mean please make it crystal clear to me because I don't want to splice the wrong wire, I'm no electrician so don't know my way around car wiring.

I've fitted plenty of stereos before, but they are all very simple in comparison to this, never had to do an amp bypass before nor ever had a problem with no power to the unit after plugging everything in.

Any help will be much appreciated! I've just lost hours of my life to this searching forums and not finding a solution I fully understand to have a go at.

sometimes the constant live feed and ignition switched live feeds are the wrong way around. Worth checking if this is the case and then swapping them around. It was the problem with mine a few years ago.

My mate said that on the phone, and I found it hard to beleive, so I'll try that when I'm next with the car on Monday morning.

After I posted earlier, I packed everything away and when to mice the car back onto the drive, but the car won't start now. The starter motor just clicks. All the lights still come on brightly but I'm not sure how I've done that

The battery's def drained, it may power up once you get it back charged.

That's what i'm thinking, the car has been stood for about 2 weeks, I turned it on to move it 10 feet backwards to give me space on the passenger side and left the engine running for about 5 mins.

Even though the battery won't have enough power to turn the engine over, am guessing it should have enough to power the headunit as the lights and a/c would turn on.

Get the car started and test with it running.

Problem is I can't drive it as my insurance is only covering me on the Celica still so just going to have to put it on charge over night. To be fair it started 1st time after being stood for 2 weeks so must have been the 10 foot reverse drive that sapped it

Well no work got done today, the battery was that dead, even the fob didn't unlock the door and the alarm didn't go off when I opened the door with the key.

Add to that it was raining, I just wasn't in the mood to play so that battery is at home with me, hopefully charging over night but I'm not convinced this charger I've got is doing what it should be doing.

Solved a few mysteries so far this morning as I've been prematurly thrown into driving it daily.

The battery did charge the other day, and so I put it back in today and all good.

The mystery I solved was when I just got home and out of the car, I noticed the clock on the air conditioning unit stays on without keys in the ignition or lights on and even the doors locked. My guess is it's suppose to go off?

Is it because I only have the air con unit and the heated seats unit plugged in?

Also the radio isn't dead, we noticed the wiring looms have got wires that aren't connected at the blocks so the weekend project is most definitely back on!

The next mystery to solve is why we could only get the radio permenantly on regardless of keys being in the ignition or not...and exactly how to wire the relay to bypass the parking brake.

I had a thought about this bypass the other day, could you use a 'push to break' switch instead of the normal push to make.

That way itd always be touched to ground, then you push the button, it thinks your driving if only for a second then release and it thinks your handbrake is back on!
