Hello mate I used to deal with these insurance companies as I owned a bodyshop

As said before the car is your property and they have to respect ur wishes to be inspected at the home address.

If they start been aggressive on ye phone call a third party accident company as this will sting them with hire costs until paid out..

The reason they want the car to a salvage place is that will be sold off an some other chap will buy it and repair it..

Hope it helps but any probs pm me and I'll put u in touch with a few names and numbers Smile

I appreciate the info thanks! When I get the call from the salvage company I will tell them to do the inspection at my house. I would be much happier that way!

Gutted for you mate, Sad
I trashed my old Is200 about 18months ago, and that got written off with very little damage.
Don't let them take it as buying it back off the salvage company is a right pain in the ****.
Hope it all works out for you.

Yeh, it's a big pain!!!! I managed to get it sorted. The salvage company rang me and I said they couldn't have it... So my insurance rang me and said that it will be passed over to an estimator at a local garage to me. Instead of them coming to me, I just had to send them the pics of the damage. So I am just waiting to hear back from them. We shall see!!

Well there has been a change of plan... I have decided to keep the car and fix it, because I cannot be arsed to change my user name on here

Nah, seriously, I have decided to get it fixed and keep it a while longer yet.
A new car will eventually happen, but I am getting married in September, so now isn't the time to be spending money.

So I could break the car, then run around in a banger for a while at the cost of some money.
Or I could get it fixed and keep running around in this for probably the same price as a banger! So it was an easy decision really.

I still think I will look to get something new towards the end of the year though.

Also, the third party insurers offered me a reasonable sum plus keeping the car. The money the insurance company are giving will cover the cost of repair with ease.

So now, I just have to get a body repair center to tell me what needs replacing and what can be repaired. Then I can gathered the bits and send it into the bodyshop for the work to be carried out.

Watch this space, as it will be back!
