Been payed less then the Conditional Offer Letter & Final Offer Letter - NHS
Hi everyone, just needed some advice !
I have been in my new job within the NHS for 2 weeks. 3 months ago I received an conditional offer for the job with outlined my pay.
I then went through the usual pre-employment checks which the NHS carry out and got my final offer letter which also detailed the same pay details as the conditional offer.
I have been paid today, but according to my wage slip my yearly salary is lower then what was written in the letters.
I have queried this and been told its a mistake. I'm a trainee and have been told i come under Annex U of the Agenda for change. As my uni course lasts for two years, Annex U states I will get paid 70% of top of the spine point of the relevant band and in the second year will get 75%.
Both letters say 75% but also state i am being paid as accordance to AfC. Obviously contridicting itself.
What position am I in, in regards to this?
I thought everything was going well until this !
This also means I cant get the Qashqai from the salary sacrifice scheme due to my pay being lower then promised on the letters.
Any advise will be much appreciated !
Can you give some more details, what is the post, what are you training for?
Im a Trainee Associate Practitioner within Point of Care, Pathology
Ill be studying at uni in Healthcare Sciences.
If you had a contract stating the pay level I can't see how they can back out of it now? I would consult a solicitor if you haven't already or at least take it to the citizens advice bureau.
contact hr with a copy of the letter, but remember its not a signed contract, an offer means jack these days theres no honour or promise with an offer and never set in stone. they will probably say the figure quoted is what you could earn with overtime and other excuses ie the 70% thing increasing over time, unfortunately with the stupid way things are in the world they could easily say your lucky to have a paid salery at all.
it is shite they know that imported people probably wont give it a second look, as long as businesses can train more people they dont care who has the job as long as its getting done for the least amount of money with maximum profits.
appart from speaking to the hr dept or citizen advise im not sure theres much you can do except try get the other job you were going for and tell the underpayers where to stick it and hope they dont play games too, who ever said that slavery had ended were so wrong, were all slaves to the wage and they know it sorry mate.
But seeing as he's already started work he must have signed a contract?
ACAS may well be able to talk this through with you.. their helpline staff have always been very useful in my experience
This is the new job I been waiting for over a year.
I havnt signed any contract, normally it would be the job description but this does not detail the pay scales. The pay is covered in the offer letters.
Just dissapointing they messed up again, my colleague said she is going to complain about it and speak to the union. We'll see how she gets on, if they change her then they got no choice but to change mine as well.
Normally I wouldnt be bother, but the dissapointment in not being able to get the Qashqai, or any decent car for a matter of fact. My choices in car is now Corsa's, Micra's and Yaris's. All based on this lower pay.
parthiban But seeing as he's already started work he must have signed a contract?
