that will offer you the best solution mate, hope you get some success, but if it were to go as far as a court the terminology of the written letter will be whats important.

is300_dino you'd like to think so wouldnt you, if any contracts been signed it would most likely to be a terms of working practise the do's and dont of the time they own you and is geared towards their benefits not yours. im only going on what saj has said and there was only the word offer not contract, thats why language is so complicated.

True, if there's no contract signed that included pay terms then it might be difficult.

But not sure where contract law stands with this one, an offer was made which was accepted. If at no point there was any mention of trainee/non-trainee pay they shouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Fingers crossed this works out.

Just to give a update, it seems the head of HR is now looking into the mistakes made.

I have made it clear (but not in writing) that I expect either my department or Recruitment to foot the bill and pay the difference as promised via the letters. I have also made it clear that the department I work for should not have to pay and Recruiment should be made to pay as its there mistake.

I was also at a Divisional Focus Group with the Director on Friday and made hm aware of the issue and made it clear its no longer acceptable for individuals to put down mistakes due to "human error" and employees do need to take responsibility as would Nurse or Doctors who may make a "human" mistake and kill a patient !

He agreed.

See what happens.
