i,m currently running and have for almost 2 years, a mk1 gs300 and love it but im now wanting more power.
i,m looking at soarers but cant decide on which one. has anyone got any experience of these and which is best?
i,m really wanting to know what are the differences in mpg and performance, cheers.

I assume you mean the MK3 Soarer -1991-2000?
Both are nominally the same power from stock (IIRC the turbo is about 15bhp more powerful than the V8)
The V8 only came in 4 speed auto
Generally the V8s have more toys unless they are very early ones (the base model V8 conversely has NO toys, not even power seats, but does have coilovers as standard!)
Much easier to extract more cheap power from the turbo but they are marginally less reliable
Any turbo one you look at these days is going to need a turbo rebuild if it hasn't already

There's also an N/A straight 6 using the 2JZ-GE engine (same as an N/A Supra). If you're after a turbo the one to get is a late manual one (1997-2000) as these have an engine and gearbox update (single turbo, VVTi, stonger gearbox).

If you're bothered about MPG get the 2JZ-GE one if you can find one. Neither the turbo nor the V8 return good fuel economy. I've a friend with a TT which has had larger turbos and a boost controller put on it (aside from that it's stock, stock management etc) and it does about 12MPG.

cheers toxo :thumbup1:

yes its just for more power really as my GS has the 2jz-ge motor and its fantastic just not fast enough.
i,m a fan of autos, leather and toys and i,d love a V8 but i,m guessing the TT is faster, more tuneable and more economical, yes???

get the vvti single turbo 1j soarer. Later spec, most power and better fuel efficiency than the 2j ge. Plus you get the shiny trim in the rear lights Big Grin
